North Dakota and the Norsk Høstfest featuring Daniel O'Donnell, Alan Jackson, and
Vince Gill
September 28 - October 3, 2010
6-day tour
The Norsk Høstfest in Minot, ND, is North America's largest Scandinavian Festival. Over 200
internationally recognized artisans, craftsmen and chefs participate. The experience is an
eclectic array of contemporary and traditional. The cuisine as well as the clothes, art and
jewelry are authentic, fine quality, and exquisitely Nordic. Free entertainment stages (included
with your festival tickets) feature many bands and entertainers. 2009 features such acts as the
Oak Ridge Boys, Leah Durelle, the Kentucky Riders from Norway, and many more!

We'll leave the Green Bay area, with our usual stops, with a destination of Eau Claire. After that,
we'll head to our hotel for the night in Fargo, ND - the Hampton Inn.
Day 2 - Wednesday, September 29, 2010:
Breakfast is included at the hotel. We'll leave in the morning to arrive in Minot, ND, for the
Høstfest and have reserved seats for Alan Jackson. We'll then return to the Høstfest
where you can enjoy free entertainment stages and Scandinavian food and shopping. In the evening
we'll check into our hotel for the next three nights in Bismarck, ND - the Hampton Inn. Then we'll
have reserved seats to the evening show of Vince Gill.
Day 3 - Thursday, September 30, 2010:
Breakfast is included at the hotel. We'll again return to the Høstfest for the day's
festivities. In the evening we have reserved seats for country and Irish folk music star Daniel
O'Donnell.
Day 4 - Friday, October 1, 2010:
Breakfast is included at the hotel. On this day we'll have a tour of the city of Bismarck, the
Heritage Center, and the Capitol building. Bismarck, founded in 1872 as "Edwinton," became the
capitol of North Dakota in 1889, the year of its statehood. In 1873, the city's name was changed
to "Bismarck" in honor of the German chancellor Otto von Bismarck. The new name was introduced by
the Northern Pacific Railway Company in an effort to attract German immigrants to settle in the
city. The discovery of gold in the nearby Black Hills in 1874, however, was the first real chance
for growth.
In the North Dakota Heritage Center, you'll be able to explore North Dakota's uncommon history. In
the huge main gallery, vivid exhibits sketch the intriguing story of human life on the northern
plains. From the formation of the land to the tumult of the twentieth century, elements of romance
and blessings of nature highlight a history that includes the conflict between Indians and
Anglo-Americans for control of a vast prairie empire; the struggles and successes of the
homesteaders and pioneers; the economic "boom" of the early twentieth century and the
disillusioning "bust" of the 1930s. Bright and telling graphics mingle with stark and striking
photographs that let you see what life was like. Artifacts from every era provide a centerpiece, a
reference that gives authenticity to your step into history. Crank a Model-T, listen to music from
different eras, take a special look at North Dakota "way back when" through actual films from 1916
to 1921, or even smell a buffalo wallow reminiscent of a time when the great beasts ruled the
prairies. Every exhibit is a step into history.
Your evening meal is included on this day.
Day 5 - Saturday, October 2, 2010:
Breakfast is included at the hotel. We'll travel to Watertown, South Dakota, to the Terry Redlin
Art Center and Museum for a tour and shopping. Terry Redlin is a true American artist. His
paintings on outdoor themes and wildlife, often pictured in twilight, are widely collected as
prints. For eight consecutive years in the 90s, he was named America's Most Popular Artist in
annual gallery surveys conducted by U.S. Art magazine. At the art center, you'll be able to view
over 150 of his original oil paintings.
Our overnight stay will be at the Jackpot Junction in Morton, MN.
Day 6 - Sunday, October 3, 2010:

We'll stop for our usual meals (Dutch treat) and breaks, arriving home early in the evening.
