Horicon Marsh Tour
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
Join us as we travel to scenic Horicon Marsh for a sightseeing boat tour, greenhouse tour, and
more! Don't forget your binoculars!
At over 32,000 acres in size, Horicon Marsh is the largest freshwater cattail marsh in the United
States. The marsh provides habitat for endangered species and is a critical rest stop for
thousands of migrating ducks and Canada geese. It is recognized as a Wetland of International
Importance, as both globally and state important bird areas and is also a unit of the Ice Age
Scientific Reserve.
We'll arrive in Horicon Marsh in the morning to watch an informational video about Horicon Marsh
followed by a one hour narrated boat tour. Enjoy the birds and animals in their natural habitat
on environmentally friendly pontoon boats.
After the boat tour we'll have noon lunch (included) at Ginger's Hide Away in Horicon.
After lunch we'll visit Berres Brothers Coffee Roasters
Inc. in Watertown. The Berres family has a long history of providing quality coffee.
Founded in 1970 as a coffee vending service, in December 2002 the business was reinvisioned to
focus on providing quality roasted coffee via grocery stores, mail order sales, convenience
stores, and corporate accounts.
We'll then visit Ebert's Greenhouse Village in
Ixonia for a tour of their showcase greenhouse, the Westbrook, which is a 30,000 square foot
presentation of flowers and hanging baskets, annual flowers, and perennials.
